'It was said to be the hardest decisions I've ever made'

HOUSTON Former Browns offensive leaders Kyle Shanahan admitted that walking into Mike Pettine's office after the 2014 season and asking out of his three year contract after only one year was one of the toughest things he's ever had to do.

"It wasn't a Power Point concept,'' he said sunday at the Super Bowl, Making clear the reports. "It was all in writing. I gave very points 32 of them, That you will guys were accurate on. I gave them to your head coach.

"I told him he could do whichever he wanted with those, Whether he gave them to the owner or the gm. I know that he did. I just seriously considered up front about it. I had some specific reasons I didn't think it was pointed in the right direction, Why it wasn't where for me and my family. Pet was real cool to fix it. He clear,

Shanahan walked in with trepidation and wasn't sure how it would all work through. But two weeks and weeks later, He's in the Super Bowl as coordinator of barbeque high powered offenses in league history, And is set to be named head coach of the 49ers soon after the game is over.

"On the plus side, It exercised well,'' he explained.

Shanahan admitted that factions inside your house working against each other caused him to leave.

"It's tough to win if you are not on the same page, He explained. "It's tough to win even if you're on the same page.''

Amongst other things, Shanahan was rankled by former Browns gm Ray Farmer's impermissible in game texts to assistants questioning playcalling and use of personnel. Farmer was lastly suspended four games and the Browns fined $250,000 for the misdemeanor. But there were 31 calendar month, Likely not to mention that Shanahan wanted either Derek Carr or Jimmy Garoppolo in the draft and the Browns drafted Johnny Manziel instead.

"There was to produce,'' being spoken Shanahan. "Effortlessly, The texts were mostly of the things. When you get a feeling not everyone's pointed in the same direction, In case you have that feeling, It makes it very challenging win. That was the feeling for many reasons that I had there,

Today, Shanahan who might be rivaling the Browns for Garoppolo this off season insists that he derived some good from his lone Browns season.

"Cleveland wasn't as bad of an event as everyone's made it out to be,'' Shanahan recounted. "Make enjoyed my time in Cleveland. I only agreed to be there for 11 months, But I loved the individuals, Thought these people were great football fans. We going real well going 7 4, And it was a real fun portion of the year.

"We thought we had a chance but we had some damages, We started to lose it sort of and we ended up losing out after that. We decided to go 7 9, It didn't end exactly how we wanted.''

Kyle Shanahan enjoyed reading Carr and Garoppolo 1 and 2 in 2014

Was there most things that could've convinced him to stay?

"I don't really look back at it like this,'' he explained. "It was what it was and there are several good things about it. A lot of good stuff. It was one of the several hardest decisions I had to make in my life, So it's as opposed to it was an easy decision. There were several things that my wife and I really loved about Cleveland.

"But I also have a family give some thought to, I have a career look at and that's really what it came down to. That's why I was open with those guys about it and the fact that they understood and let me move on is which I really appreciate all of them for.

Shanahan accented Jimmy and Dee Haslam for their desire to turn things around.

"I think the Haslams do a fantastic job,'' he was quoted saying. "They're as good of people as I've been known. They want to do things right and I think it's a matter of time until they get it done.''

Shanahan admitted that there was pressure to start Manziel when the Browns were going south after a 7 4 fabric such as Brian Hoyer.

"Any time you spend a first round pick on any player almost always there is pressure to play that guy, From all, He explained. "It's ever present. It won't matter where you're at.

"We had arrived 7 4, And we could actually stand in for a while. Then it got trickier and more complicated. We gave Johnny a niche. You will never know if a guy's totally ready until he gets into a game. He had not been quite ready. I think we found that out hard way,

Shanahan never dared to dream that his decision works out this well, This promptly. His Falcons' criminal crime is No. 1 in the category, And he's finally got his long awaited possible opportunity to be a head coach.

"Argument, Without a doubt,'' he explained. "I tried not to think about the outcome. It was a hard thing to put yourself too much there a little bit. But there were some things I felt strongly about for myself and for my family. It wasn't some thing just happened fast. It was something that I thought about a long time and had a lot of discussions with my wife about and it was something I felt was important for me to do.''

He knew he'd be vilified by some for walking on out on a deteriorating team. Pettine and player were fired a season later, And the Browns went 1 15 last season under Hue fitzgibbons.

"You've got to sit there and you no doubt know people are going to say things,'' he explained. "It's part of the organization, But you've got to do what you think is right and live with splits and you never know what's going to happen. How to attract good, It may bad, But I was extremely confident and proud of how I felt and that's all you've got to be concerned about and let the rest take care of itself.''

More of a recall than a fresh signing
